We are Twiddlemitting – knitting mitts or muffs for use by dementia patients
The knitters have benefited by having a regular event to meet and get to know local people and they are now planning to continue with more projects in future. If you are interested in helping with future knitting projects, call into the Library on Monday afternoons.
Twiddlemitts are knitted mitts or muffs for use by dementia patients. Dementia sufferers often have restless hands and like to have something to keep their hands occupied. The mitts provide a source of visual, sensory and tactile stimulation whilst keeping hands snug and warm. Since last November, a group of people have been meeting weekly at Preston Community Library to work on the Twiddlemitts project. Last month, 25 muffs were delivered to patients at Northwick Park Hospital and further consignments will go to another hospital and to local Brent homes for the elderly.
